Scotland: Photography Workshops and Tours
Claire has been offering photography workshops and tours within the UK and abroad for over a decade. In November 2022 she relocated to The Scottish Highlands and has developed an exciting new business with her husband, Andy Askey.
As a qualified and experienced teacher Claire enjoys passing on her expertise to others. Andy shares her passion and has been supporting Claire for several years with workshops and is now directing all his energy to this new venture.
Whilst many of the trips to far flung places will still be offered our main emphasis will now be SCOTLAND and all it has to offer.
For those who just want to explore the area on their own we have a recently licensed cabin available with 1 double bedroom and all amenities that has plenty of availability in 2024 (License number HI-40525-F)
We also have a studio to enable us to continue with the botanical workshops Claire has been delivering for many years or simply for days when the weather doesn't allow outdoor photography (see this page).
1) One day photography tuition - Landscapes of Lochaber for 1 or 2 people.
Dates: by arrangement.
Cost: £160 per person or £200 for two people.
Times: 8 hours, either starting from dawn or ending just after sunset (your choice).
To include full tuition and transport from an agreed starting point. We will communicate with you prior to the day to establish what you wish to achieve and your preferred locations within 40 minutes of Fort William (e.g. Glen Coe, Rannoch Moor, Glen Nevis .... see full details for list)
Contact us to discuss dates and to book after reading the full details.
2) Bespoke Scottish Highland photography workshops and tours to include accommodation.
We offer complete flexibility so you can tailor-make your own photography adventure whether it is just for yourself or you and some friends.
Full details of Bespoke Packages here.
Bespoke workshops are for people who require between 2 and 5 nights accommodation with tuition, or a cheaper option being just a tour (i.e. no tuition but we get you to the best places according to season and light).
Cost: this depends on how many days/nights you require and whether you come on your own or bring a partner or friend/s. As a guide for one person requiring a tour with 2 nights accommodation and full board and transport it will be £340. If you wanted tuition it would be £475. If you bring a friend who requires a separate room it would be £310 each for a tour and £380 each for a workshop. If you share a room (we have 1 twin and 2 doubles) it will be £240 per person for a tour and £310 per person with tuition.
We will build a tour or tuition around your requirements. The above is based on 2 nights accommodation with arrival late afternoon with an evening meal, breakfast and lunch and evening meal day 2 with a full day of tuition and transportation to locations and then breakfast day 3.
You could stay longer and just take advantage of our self catering accommodation after a few days tuition to practice what you have learnt.
Contact us, after reading the full details, for a quote and to discuss your requirements and our availability.

You will be staying in our newly built home which has been designed with workshops in mind. All rooms are ensuite. We have 1 double, 1 twin and a self catering unit with a double bedroom. During this workshop food will be eaten in the main house as a group, unless you are a couple and book the self catering unit and opt to cook for yourself. We have a purpose built studio for wet days and for processing images and there is a large drying room and a cosy lounge where you can relax at the end of the day. Full details here.
To give a flavour of the opportunities, within a 40 minute drive we have amazingly diverse destinations such as the obvious Glen Coe, Corpach Wreck, Glen Nevis, Castle Stalker and Glenfinnan. We aim to also take you to less well-known locations such as Loch Arkaig, Glen Roy and other gems we can't wait to share with you. The views from all bedrooms towards The Grey Corries and The Nevis Range are outstanding.
For full days out there are fabulous beaches near Mallaig, The Ardnamurchan Peninsular, Rannoch Moor and even the east coast if the weather in the west is poor.
Over time we will be expand our programme to encompass the wider area of Scotland starting from our base for a few days and then going further afield to places such as The Small Isles and Skye.
As always, we aim to offer flexibility and value for money for very small groups from 1 to a maximum of 6 in three ensuite rooms (2 double and 1 twin). If people wish to travel by train from Glasgow we can meet you at either Spean Bridge or Fort William stations and we can collect people from Inverness Airport for a fee.

Testimonial “We enjoyed a 7 night workshop with Claire and Andy in late October, 2023 to take advantage of the photographic opportunities afforded by fabulous autumnal colours and landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. We were one of their first visitors since their move to Scotland last year. The location is perfectly placed to visit numerous lochs, glens and other prime photo location spots within the immediate Ben Nevis region and beyond. In addition to well known attractions in the Fort William area, Glencoe, Glenfinnan, etc, they were also keen to drive us to some lesser known spots in the area. This worked particularly well and enabled us to adjust to different and ever changing weather and light conditions to fully optimise our time shooting outdoors. Their well-equipped in-house studio is also available for use when photo conditions outside are poor and Claire can provide tuition and expert botanical workshops, if this is of interest. Our workshop was excellent.
The accommodation provided in their newly built Ecohome was first class with breakfast, packed lunch and two course dinner available daily. The evening meal was a particular delight showcasing Andy's culinary skills!
In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our week with the couple and have no hesitation in recommending a short or extended stay with them as an ideal base for exploring the delights of this part of Scotland for landscape and wildlife photography. We hope to stay with them again in the future as part of a wider photo tour taking in Skye and other islands which are also tantalising close!” Phil & Jan Wilson
I would like to say that I really enjoyed my time with you and I think I was one of the first people to visit.
You were both really welcoming. The accommodation was comfy cosy and the food was great. Thanks Andy.
Even though the weather was against us, The only thing that didn’t get wet was my camera!
You went out of your way to try and make sure I got some lovely images, quickly, wiping away the rain off my filters so I could take the shot.
I had a fun couple of days with you both and learnt quite a lot thank you.
......one of the photos that I took has been a winner in club competitions.
