Bird of Prey Photography Workshop in South Shropshire, West Midlands.

Birds of Prey Photography Workshop South Shropshire

We are now offering 1-1 and small group (max of 3) bird of prey photography days. Contact me to organise a date and details of pricing. The days can be organised around the light according to season with opportunities for morning and evening shoots.

Photographer Claire Carter and falconer Chris Neal would like to invite you to join us  in the beautiful rolling hills of South Shropshire just 7 miles East of Ludlow and a few minutes from Clee Hill village, for a Bird of Prey Photography Workshop.

These workshops offer an excellent opportunity to create images that most can only dream about whilst also learning new photography skills or for those more experienced a chance to hone field skills.

Images from previous workshops can be seen here.

Group workshops can be organised for a maximum of 10 participants - ideal for a camera club day out with very competitive rates.

In the event of bad weather there are plenty of indoor options in barns with a chance to try some flash or studio lights if the weather is totally uncooperative.

We will have a minimum of 6 birds available and every workshop will provide different opportunities. The following is just an example of what may be available.

Kestrel, Barn Owl, Peregrine, American Redtailed Hawk, European Eagle Owl and for flight shots we can use a Bengal Eagle Owl, Harris Hawks, Gyr x Saker Falcons and the Kestrel and Barn Owl. During the breeding season young birds will be available.

The day can be organised around what participants want - static shots for beginners or a day of flight shooting for the more advanced.

The area provides a wide variety of natural habitats to photograph in and we aim to respond to the weather conditions and seasons so every workshop gives different opportunities.

The atmosphere will be relaxed, with plenty of time to shoot each bird and ask questions. The falconer, who has a national reputation in his field, will be on hand to share his expert knowledge of his birds and local wildlife. I will offer advice as to appropriate techniques and camera settings and can be emailed before the event for questions relating to equipment, though static photographs can be achievable with even basic cameras. You can get so close you may even want to bring your macro lens!
